Diablo DC-5500 Failed after 3 months

As with a good deal of others my diablo dc pump just failed (luckily) in front of my eyes. The controller was showing power was present but he pump was dead.

I removed and cleaned it still dead.

Lets see how the warranty goes.....

If there is an official thread let me know and I will post this on there?

Back to my trustworthy eheim for now

Thanks for sharing, sorry to hear about the troubles. These stories give me pause in jumping onto the DC bandwagon. I guess I am like your quote LOL

Mine usually is the power supply and not the motor block.

I have a Waveline DC I don't use any longer, (same basic pump) though it hasn't failed the power supply is not acceptable, it is a fire hazard. Check it first, it is usually the first thing to go as scuzzy suggested.

The shop honoured the warranty and also let me exchange it for a credit note, I go a spare eheim compact and some salt. I am just about to leave the tank for a few weeks so I am really glad that it failed now. Coralvue obviously did not discontinue these pumps without good reason.

On the 5th RO DC5500 skimmer pump for one client. Have another 6 months left on warranty for "free" replacement. Have another client w/an RLSS 6000 2nd gen skimmer pump that is dying after 4months.
