Ecotech region gen 3 pro

I am planning to buy the gen 3 pro. If I change the lenses to the wide angle lenses should 1 be enough for a 36x22x18 tank?

Yep, that should do it but you will probably have to be a little selective with coral placement at the ends.

I will put sps in the middle of the tank and soft and lps on the left and right side.

Sounds like a plan.

I have one over a 30x30x24 cube and the coverage is fine.

Stock. I'm thinking about the wide angle lenses though. No reason other than just to see the difference.

Does the light cover the whole tank? Or do you have shaded areas?

I'd agree with d2mini; I think one G3 Pro with a set of wide-angle lenses will go a long way for you!

Is the par enough for sps near the bottom of the tank with the wide angle lenses?

If you're really looking to do a full-blown SPS reef, two XR30w's would be best. For most mixed reefs, one G3 Pro would do well w/ those dimensions.

How high should I place the light above surface?

It might be best if you downloaded the instruction manual from their site. It covers all of this. I have mine 10" off the surface. It works perfect with no shading.
