stop hitchhikers on corals
How can I prevent any hitchhikers from getting into my tank thru new coral intro?
What is the absolute best method? |

Quarantine your corals is the absolute best.

yep, the only proven effective method, and it is still not 100% b ut the best by far

I've soda watered rock before to get things out of it.
Regular freshwater as well. |

generally how long do you dip for? sounds like I would want to dip then quarantine

Coral has to be dipped: look up Coral dips. Follow instructions re the type of coral.
Qt of corals is ok for some types which have pests that don't respond to the dips, but if you have a light-requirement your qt can't meet, that's a problem. I never qt corals, but I do dip them. Never had any micro-pests. Mine are lps and sps.

Coral dip. You can actually see hitchhikers come off of it after is dipped.

I think one of the big pests I don't want to introduce is Apstasia, I am using dead rock and dead sand to start, I will never add live rock to this tank. I'm trying a new a porch and want to control everything that is in the tank, is this possible or am I dreaming?
