Best Quarantine Tank Filtration?
So Im in the process of getting some equipment for a few tanks Im setting up. Im going to have a 100g quarantine tank that will be setup permanently. Im wondering what the best filtration would be for this tank? I was thinking of just doing a canister filter of some sort, so that I wouldn't have as much evaporation from a sump system, and rather ease of install.
What do ya'll think? Or should I just get some hob filters like the emperor bio-wheels?

You can't go wrong with the Aquaclear HOB filters IMO. You could probably get some used ones for dirt cheap, being that they're so popular.

i use aquaclear HOB filters, they are great. no need to mess with a sump or a canister filter.

So what do y'all do to keep the bacteria alive between illness, and additions?

just keep feeding the tank fish food. it will keep the bacteria going.

I would think quarantine tanks would have medication in it at some stage wouldn't that kill the bacteria anyway ? I just put extra sponges in my aquaclear and do regular water changes

I've never personally had medication in my QTs. Guess it just depends on what disease, etc, you come across. Not all meds kill bacteria anyway. But agreed just keep up water changes and feed the tank and keeps things going just fine.

just keep some sponges in your sump and then you have biological filter ready to go when you need to set up a quarantine. and then tear down the QT and throw out the sponge when you are done. no need to keep the QT tank constantly running. in fact, it would be a really bad idea to keep it running all the time. that would facilitate the spread of disease.
