Using DC pump/venturi on Skimmer to PULL water FROM BioPellets?
OK. I have a larger SWC 250/2 Skimmer with two PSK-2500's. The one PSK-2500 just went down with freyed wires and I have been struggling with the typical startup issues on these 2500's (POS they are! LOL) Thus I am looking at ways of putting a better pump on this anyhow.
I have also began using Bio-pellets and have been reading up on how they are MUCH more efficient if the output from the BioPellet Reactor runs directly to the skimmer. Most of us have a separate pump to PUSH water from the Refugium/Sump into the reactor THEN empty that flow somehow into the intake of the skimmer. The skimmer itself has a pump or two to pull water into the skimmer and create the bubbles. Why do we not simply PULL the water into the Skimmer with ONE pump (possibly a DC pump with a impeller mod) from the BioPellet reactor? If this question has been asked before or there are inherit problems with this just point me to those threads LOL. I did not find any with my searches. IN my case since my skimmer has two pumps my thought was one pump directly pulling flow from the bio pellet reactors and the other from the sump/refu like it is now.
