tank size for led power modual

I have a tank that is 65" x30" x24" I want to get the at I led power modual. I know that the 60" 8x80w fixture is the one I want but would the 4x80w work fine as well? I would rather the smaller of the two fixtures and have an opportunity to buy one new

Its half the light and 2ft shorter..
whether that will work or not depends on the light requirements of the tanks inhabitants.

Before I give my opinion is like to confirm your dimensions. 60Lx30Wx24T

I would also like to know what you plan on keeping? SPS,LPS,Mixed?

If it's 30" wide I'd say 8 bulb for sure.

If it's 24" wide I'd say 4 bulb. Pending not a full SPS tank.

There is just so many variables you need to use you own judgement as well.

That's a good point. To confirm, its a custom 65" x 30" x 24"
I plan on keeping sps and LPs.

tank size for led power modual

I would do the 8 bulb 60" fixture. Just know that I don't believe the 60" fixture is able to dim the t5's in the U.S. because of the volts. These fixtures are par monsters though so it will take some acclimation. I have the 48" fixture over a 24" deep tank and am at about 380 par(T5's only)on the sand with the fixture 8" above the tank and 10" above the water. My sps is all in the bottom 12"-14" and I have yet to get my t5's past 60% and leds 30% without bleaching and it's been 8 months. There are some people on the thread I gave you that are running them 100%(Like you would have to) but not many that I am aware of.

Wouldn't I be able to run it on the tank then? Who cares if it has to run at 100% I'm more worried about shadowing

I never had a LED PM but I had a 48" 8 bulb on a 48x30x18 and had the light about 14" AWL. I don't believe shadows will be a issue. I have seen many people claim just adding two t5 supplements to their LED fixtures takes care of the shadowing issues associated with LED's. You on the other hand will have 8.

But I would rather the 4 bulb. If I have to get the 8 I'll just get the sunpower will I be OK with this 4 bulb powemodual or do I need an 8 bulb sunpower. I could always put sps under the light and LPs closer to the tank front on the sandbed

I say 8 bulb. The 4 bulb model is only 12" wide and pushing it to spread 30" if you ask me. Let's see if anyone else chimes in.
