Why is it bad?
Ok what's the big deal about micro bubbles? Are they bad?

They can irritate corals but mainly they cloud the water.

I don't think they're bad. If the tank was saturated with micro bubbles on a regular basis, (like a skimmer) then I could see where it might be irritating to the fish and the corals, but that's generally not the case. Most people just consider them to be unsightly.
FWIW, I had a pump in my old 60 gallon tank that was so close to the waters edge, that every 30-40 seconds a small burst of bubbles would enter the tank. The corals and the fish didn't seem to mind, but the salt spray on the bulbs was a different story.. |
