Cycling tank with shrimp. Sodium tripolyphosphate.

I'm going to use a raw shrimp to add ammonia. The shrimp I got from the seafood department didn't say it had sodium tripolyphosphate until after they packaged it. Can I rinse it really well then just through it in the tank. The left over phosphate will just cause a slight algae bloom right? Thanks!

My tanks been cycling for a few weeks with one raw shrimp in a stocking... I got mine for free from the counter at the supermarket because it was such an odd request but I haven't had any problems yet , but interested if that is a common problem. I'm assuming all raw shrimp are going to come the same way - no algae blooms yet here but I'm cycling all dry rock and dry sand too if that differs from what you're doing.

I have a small, small piece of live rock the rest is dry rock but I'm using caribsea arag-alive pink Fiji sand. I'm going to rinse the shrimp like crazy and we will see how it goes.
