What's considered a large....
Hello everyone.
What is considered large ALK and pH swings? I have a 5 month old 100g tank and so far so good. At this point I've got the basic water parameters under control/stable and I've started adding a few corals. So now I've been working on stablizing alkalinity. I have a Reef Dynamic's kalk mixer that is used in conjunction with my ATO. Over the course of a day, my pH typically fluctuates 0.1, from mid 8.2 to mid 8.3. When I first started monitoring my ALK it was low 5.7dKH - 6.7dKH. Now, I got the 24 hour ALK swing to be around 0.5 dKH, 7.6 - 8.1. I'm using SeaChem's Reef builder which I dose manually twice daily. Are these swings acceptable for more hardy "beginner" type corals? Thanks |

That's a fairly small swing, and I wouldn't worry about it, personally.
