Reef Interests All-In-One BioPellets

Anyone use these yet: http://www.aquariumspecialty.com/ree...one-biopellets

Seems interesting and way to remove GFO as an independent reactor. Curious as I am due to refill with new BioPellets.

IMO, it seems like a weird combination of two products that might be best used separately for maximum control, and the GFO is never actually removed from the tank. I wouldn't want to leave it there if I had a choice (and I do )

Ive been using biopellets with great success instead of GFO. Just got a bag of these yesterday. Ill give them a shot when i need to refill some. Thought i would start with adding them to the existing pellets.

That is what I was thinking but didn't want to jump in without seeing others experiences.

Remember, you will be leaving the GFO and phosphate in the aquarium somewhere.

Would you do that with normal GFO?

I have contacted the company about maintenance of this product. Randy you bring up a good question so figured I would ask them. If we treat this just like GFO, replace every few weeks but it also eats nitrates, might be a nice way to combine the solution. If it breaks down like the bio-pellets then I may leave them as isolated reactors.

I was wondering, could it possibly bind the phosphate and then the skimmer removes it? Or could it create a bacteria that actually feeds on the P04 & P03? I am very green when it comes to this type of stuff so hopefully my questions are not completely ignorant!

They might claim some is removed by skimming, and some may be.

All bacteria consume phosphate to make organic matter such as DNA, RNS, phospholipids, phosphorylated proteins, etc.
