RO/DI question

Is the waste water created by the system suitable for watering plants? Any benefits from it...beyond not throwing it away?

It sure is!! I use to put the waste line in my washer and fill it up for laundry!! Not sure on benefits but definetly a use for it

Waste water from rodi is just rich in mineral content etc...
Great for anything that requires water or the nutrients in it, not so good for drinking because your body doesn't necessarily break down all that comes in the minerals.

But yes, good for plants (very good; think of it as fertilizer enriched)

It's only enriched by about 20 to 25% in anything. Unless you started with super crummy tap water, the waste line is fine to drink from a mineral standpoint.

The thing to be careful of is that the carbon blocks pulled out all the chlorine, so there may be microbial issues.

For your plants or your pets or your washer it is essentially the same as the tap water you started with.

I have well water so no chlorine to contend with but I feel better knowing the waste water doesn't really have to be wasted. I can't put it into my older septic system so short of watering the lawn I hoped to find additional uses. Thanks all!

Mine drains into a sump with the ac drain in the basement. I have it plumbed outside to a barrel. My wife uses the water for the flower beds in the summer no problems.
