Does anyone have a tank too clean for mushrooms?

I can keep LPS, zoas, gsp but a rock with over 12 mushroom polyps is down to 2 now and shriveling up.

Do I have too little nutrients?

I have lots of corals of all types doing well in my system. But my mushrooms (about 8 colonies) are very static. They don't grow, they don't propagate, they don't spread. And I have lost a couple (both individuals and a colony of ricordia).

I don't know what is missing they look good, but they aren't happy. I also have a Neon Green toadstool which is just wallowing and shriveling in the tank. While at the same time I have another piece outside in the same water, but in indirect sunlight which is flourishing.

Have mushrooms and Ric's in my system. I keep nutrients low just due to how much algae I get if I don't. I've never lost a mushroom due to parameters, only lose them when they decide to move to the underside of the rock and I can't remove them from it.

It is more likely the lighting. I had a ric rock with dozens melt in one spot, but int he same tank, off to the side, they grew like crazy.

What is your lighting?

I know in my tank unless I put mushrooms in a really shaded area they don't do well.
I'm using Radions at 65% intensity.

Same story here. SPS, LPS, and most softies look great. Mushrooms aren't dying, but not flourishing either. Same thing for a small clump of Xenia that a friend gave me recently. Moving them to another tank with just softies in it, should do better there.

I'm runnning Radions they are at different settings for different areas of the tank, I think the ones near the mushrooms are at about 65%. Most of my mushrooms are all the way at the bottom of the tank (29"). But the ones doing the best are just 6" from the surface that have Xenia growing up through them.

I also have one patch of purple Rhodactis, which is actually doing well in terms of being open, keeping color, just not propagating and it is underneath inside a cave.

JOhnd4g, My Xenia population is flourishing. In the connected outside tanks I have over 1000's stalks flourishing. In the display tank I probably have between 100-200 stalks of pulsing xenia which for the first time in a very long time, I am actually harvesting xenia from the display tank.

Be careful what you wish for. My tank is being overrun by shrooms and they are not easy to remove. I'm thinking about building a miniature power washer to use in the tank to cut the shrooms down!

I used to have a lot of mushrooms, but I had some issues that were attributed to high PO4 and NO3. My PO4 stays around .04 to .19 and my NO3 10/25 ppm.
I run 4 bulb T-5's. All my mushrooms are gone and some leathers. All my LPS, Clams, and some leathers have been around for years.
