had Majestic in with full reef,

SPS, LPS, Zs and Ps and NPS Gorg. did well, ate flakes (loved them) and frozen food. Only had to move him as he was getting too big for my cube tank, got him as very small fish.

Consider I'm a guy that housed a spike puffer, humu trigger with reefsafe Nano Fish like various tiny gobies with no harm. both fish were trained to eat flake, frozen food and freeze dried krill.

I had one for about 4 months. His loss convinced me to begin quarantining and I never looked back. I loved that fish, still one of my favorites but I wouldn't do one in a reef again. He was a coral muncher. Ate zoas like candy. I was feeding pellets, mysis, brine & any frozen I could find at that time.

Ya I'm not going to swear about zoos and acans. But regals will also eat zoos and plenty of people do them in reefs. Guess it's choice tiime. Zoos and acans vs the fish.

There is one easy solution.... one reef, & one fish only or fish with some corals depending on the fish.

I was reading about Regals and they seem a little less likely to not eat corals and are a little harder to get eating? I also find the Majestic a little more stunning, the only zoos I have are dirt brown and growing like weeds, so I wouldn't mind a fish pruning a little bit! My acans though... I guess I could move them to a different tank if he decides to start chowing down. Would having a slightly aggressive fish in the tank distract it from the corals? I have a yellow tang, but he is the most gentle and passive fish I have! My firefish is more of a jerk than him (lol)

OP, it is ultimately your choice about what to put in your tank. I have not had the same experience with the larger marine angels that other posters have had. Although I am fortunate in that I have the ability to relocate a coral to another of my tanks if it starts getting picked on by the fish.

I am unable to keep clams in this tank. SPS and LPS tend to do poorly. My wrasses eat my clean-up crews almost as fas as I introduce them.

As you can see in the photos I posted, I have a fair bit of softies, especially (what other people call pest species) like xenia and anthelia. Additionally, because of the higher bioload, and consequently higher nitrate and phosphate levels in this tank, "pest" coral species tend to grow like a weed in the higher nutrient environment.

I see all this as positives. I can offset the costs of the hobby by selling softie frags. The softies keep the nitrates and phosphates low. The aquascaping is more visually appealing (at least to me) than a simple FOWLR.

In conclusion, if I lose a few softies because one of the angels picks at it, no worries.

Do you think that having aggressive fish like the emperor angel and the PBT in the tank help with your majestic being occupied enough not to notice the corals too much? I don't have any fish in my tank that give the CUC the slightest notice! My snails and hermit crabs are breeding so much i think I am gonna have to sell or give away some! The funniest thing to see in your tank is a full grown shell-less snail!!

When I look at the pecking order in this tank, there are two hierarchies. The first is between the sailfin tang, the PBT, and the blue ring, and sometimes the Tusk, in that order. The next is between emperor and the blue ring.

Everyone ignores the majestic. He picks at the rocks quite a bit, and avoids the softies.

The majestic and blue ring were added first. I added the emperor a couple months later. He beat the snot out of the blue ring for about 24 hours, at one point I thought the emperor would kill him. But the next day things settled down. At the time, the blue ring was tiny, about the size of a silver dollar. I suspect the initial agression was due to the fact that juvenile BR's and emperors look similar, but I could be wrong.

I have a H. passer in QT now, and will add him in a few weeks. That should mix things up a bit. I have an 12x8x6 isolation tank that fits inside my DT's, and when the passer is ready I will introduce him to the DT inside the isolation tank.

Do you have any macroalgae growing in the tank? Maybe that would keep it occupied on the rock instead of corals? I have macroalgae growing like mad in my DT andmy yellow tang just can't keep up with the growth!

I am ashamed to say I am battling several large patches of byryopsis in this tank. I never see my angels eat it, but they do eat the 'pods that live in the algae. My foxface and rabbit fish are starting to get ahead of it, but they are still pretty small.

Ok, I don't think macroalgae is anything to be ashamed of ( but I am new here so idk ) I am heading to vancouver this weekend and my family doesn't wanna risk the corals, but I told them if it does any damage, it is sent back to quarantine and back to Vancouver! Maybe I should wait...

Wow! Nice tank! I think I have convinced my family! We are gonna bite the bullet on this fish! My LFS has a changing juvenile that is about 2 inches, still have to make the call and reserve it!

Does anybody recommend quarantine? I think I should because if I can get him or her on my feeding schedule then maybe he/she will know that the coral is not food? My quarantine is only 20 gallons so idk. Thoughts?

Lawrence - sweet tank!

OP - If you are committed to caring for a majestic, please follow a full quarantine. This will give you time to properly acclimate your new pet and ensure he is healthy and eating well before he is placed in your DT. a 20G is a perfect QT.

Unhappy

Bad News The majestic we had our eyes on sadly died of ich in the LFS's quarantine system almost as soon as it got out of the bag. They don't have anymore so now we are on the waiting list! It was an awesome one too

That is a shame. That illustrates why you always want to quarantine new fish.

I paid something like $125USD for mine from Live Aquaria. 14 day guaranty can't be beat.

Majestics are not cheap, and personally, I would try to obtain one from one of the online dealers with a guaranty 1st.

I am from Canada so no liveaquaria I don't think there are any online dealers in canada, unless I am mistaken, so the LFS is the only way to go
