Clownfish Egg Question
My friends clowns laid eggs on a peice of pvc on his frag rack in his frag tank. I would like to take them home and hatch and raise them but am not sure on how to remove the eggs saftely from the pipe. Could i just siphon them off and put them in an egg tumbler? And no i can't just take the pipe because his frag rack in connected to it.

would not try remove eggs. If at all possible have friend lay a piece of tile over the spot where clowns laid eggs so next time you can just remove tile

You can hang out at his house on hatch night and catch the fry as they hatch with have a turkey baster(while the filters are off). This way is tricky and time consuming. Just take caution as to gently pour the fry out and not dump them in, this can harm them. To the holding container and fry tank. If this is the clowns first nest I would allow them to raise a couple nests (3-4) before you collect them. The fry should be healthier at that point in time and the parents will take better care of the nest also.

Try
You can try but prob be dissapointed with effort and possible damage to eggs. There is no way of maybe cutting a larger diameter pvc pipe length wise down the middle and placing it like a sleeve over the area they are laying eggs. Have not heard of using an egg tumbler for clownfish but know it is done with mouthbrooders (Cardinalfish). Can you take a picture of said tank and where eggs are exactly. Maybe with photo more people here can chime in. Lastly if there is no option can you purchase or borrow clownfish pair from friend and set up a breeding tank for them?

Hate to say it but sounds like your out of luck if you cant be there when they hatch or able to place a removable subtrate in the area. Sucking them out will most likely kill them.

Have friend move clowns to their own tank with removable spawning sites and wait for them to start breeding again. Thats probably last option if that could be done,
