Korallin 1502 Output 1, 2 or both?

Hey there reefers. I've purchased a new Korallin 1502 a week ago, but I've been having some minor problems. Here are the flow rates:

Bubble count: 3 every sec
Affluent out of output 1: 30-35 ml a minute
Output 2 is not utilized

The affluent goes to a cup which contains my Apex pH probe. The controller is set to engage the CO2 > 6.70 and off at 6.60.

The problem(s):

Should I have output 2 going into the sump? And if so, at what rate? Also my dKH is reading 15 on the API test with Calc reading 500! Probably bad news?

How should I get those levels under control?

Thanks

Depends. Do you want the reactor to let you know if you are using too much CO2? If so, then don't use the one on top of the reactor - whichever one that is. I use the one on the tubing.

If the reactor chamber fills up with CO2, then you are for sure using too much.

10 bubbles and 40 drips a minute is a good place to start. Should come out to about 6.6 to 6.7.

I might suggest some better test kits than API for not only your tank health, but also to help you dial this thing in.

You can wear out most solenoids if you on/off them with a PH controller. You should be easily able to dial in the reactor to work in it's own and then use the monitor to just alert you. I have had my Korallin since the 1990s and never used a controller with it.

Thanks JDA. The korallin instructions speak to using both lines, but from what I've been reading/seeing on the net, it looks like just the outlet you mentioned is the only one used.

No CO2 build up in the reactor. That's a good thing. But what is a pain in the a$$ is the restrictir valves. Hard as heck to adjust.

What kits do you use? I've used API for everything except pH in which I use Elos
