How to remove Macro Algae from Birds Nest.

Macro algae some how go into my display tank. It's growing in my birds nest. I pull it out, but more comes back. Any one know how to get it all out?

Thanks.

Which type of macro algae? Certain species have holdfasts that are flimsy and when you pull on it, it rips and leaves a tiny piece of the holdfast root, from which it can grow back.

Thanks. I though that. This nest has grown large. I need to trim it anyway.
