rubbermaid stock tanks???

I'm debating using a 70 or 100 gallon stock tank as my sump under my tank.

I know most use them in basements or in fish rooms, but thats not an option for me and I don't want to spends 100's on an acrylic sump. My skimmer is going to be outside of the sump and I have a separate refugium so I don't need separate compartments. One big sump with LR inside is all I'm looking for a stock tank should work.

I was wondering if anyone else is using one in their stand. If so, let me know how its working for you.

Thanks.

If you had the space they are great but I don't see how you can fit one under a normal sized stand.

Why not either get a used tank and convert it to a sump for cheap ~$100.

Or a 55gallon tank from Petco during the 1$ a gallon sale.

I have a 150 but it is huge and I can't imagine fitting the 100g under a normal sized stand, 31" wide and it's very bulky.

Great point. The stand for my tank is a custom 40inch high steel stand. The measurements are 72x28x40.

The width is short by 3 inches but that's not a big deal since the tank will be 4-5 inches off the wall to allow for external plumbing.
