rubbermaid stock tanks???
I'm debating using a 70 or 100 gallon stock tank as my sump under my tank.
I know most use them in basements or in fish rooms, but thats not an option for me and I don't want to spends 100's on an acrylic sump. My skimmer is going to be outside of the sump and I have a separate refugium so I don't need separate compartments. One big sump with LR inside is all I'm looking for a stock tank should work. I was wondering if anyone else is using one in their stand. If so, let me know how its working for you. Thanks. |

If you had the space they are great but I don't see how you can fit one under a normal sized stand.
Why not either get a used tank and convert it to a sump for cheap ~$100. Or a 55gallon tank from Petco during the 1$ a gallon sale. I have a 150 but it is huge and I can't imagine fitting the 100g under a normal sized stand, 31" wide and it's very bulky.

Great point. The stand for my tank is a custom 40inch high steel stand. The measurements are 72x28x40.
The width is short by 3 inches but that's not a big deal since the tank will be 4-5 inches off the wall to allow for external plumbing. |
