fish-street ato

Need to get an ato for my 20L. Im looking at this one from fish street http://www.fish-street.com/triple_se...ategory_id=139. Cant find much in the way of reviews of this and was wondering if anyone had tried it? Even with shipping its coming in a good $30 under just about any other set up. I emailed them some questions but i think a little something got lost in translation.

Yeah it just had a bunch of not favorable reviews. Most of them saying the sensor doesnt cut it off fast enough and it hits the alarm sensor. That and by the time I buy even a cheap pump for it its 2x the price of this.

I decided to order this ATO. It got to me within 1 week of placing the order. I was expecting more coming from over seas. The instructions were lacking but it wasn't hard to figure out how it goes. I tested all three sensors over and over and they each stopped it without fail every time. The pump that comes with it was small but doesn't have any trouble pushing the water over 4 feet high and is quiet. The only problem was the holder doesn't seem made for in tank use more for the longer drop in a sump. Im not sure if this was by design or just works but i was able to attach it sideways, without modifying it, and it holds the water line about 1/8 of an inch above the rims bottom edge. The back up sensor is also still in a place to stop it before it overflow the tank. It seems to set off with about 1/8 in or less water loss when i was testing it. The pump waits a few sec after the water falls to make sure its not just a little wave before it kicks in. I would order it again if i had to re make the decision. Only thing left to see is how it holds up.

This looks similar to the tunze osmolator (which I have and like very much) at 25% of the cost. Can you take a picture of how you have it set up and keep us updated on its performance.

Hey dude, how is this piece of equipment working? I can't find much reviews of it. seems some have the sensor fail on it.

I have one of these, it doesn't work for me.

In my tank it simply won't register water level on the IR sensor. Out of the tank in a bucket and under a cloth (for darkness) it works.

Even with my lights off, sensor completely blacked out and all electronics off (to remove effect of light or ER) it doesn't work and tried in various positions.

Talked to fish street and between broken english communication he basically said it won't work for me and to give up. He said some people have problems where they are unable to ever get it working. He sent me a new controller box but it didn't work. I could pay for shipping for a refund but that is basically the cost of the item itself.

I'm going back to my dual-redundancy DIY ato.

hey Kanuck, was it in your tank or in your sump? that might be why it wouldn't work. I can see it not working in a tank. In a sump it'll be pretty dark unless it's close to a refugium.

In my all in one in my tank, which is completely blackened with vinyl wrap around the outside and a lid.

And, as I said, it even doesn't work with the lights off.

I have mine in the sump and has worked perfectly for about a year now. Make sure to clean the sensor of salt creep and so on when ever you think of it and you will be fine!

FWIW Ive had the Hydor for about 6 months and its worked flawlessly. I had an osmolator for years before it went belly up.

I wouldnt trust something like ATO to the Chinese stuff. Good luck with it though, I hope it works out for you. (no sarcasm )
