I've seen plenty of posts where someone says that their tank is doing great under LED and then they post a pic.
Of course I've seen the opposite too, but the point is "doing great" doesn't mean anything.
I know there is lots of subjectiveness to "works". I also think there is some observational bias during evaluation (you know people see what they want to see). IMO we have seen enough pictures of tanks doing well to conclude that LED does do the job. This is not saying they are perfect or magic or anything else. LEDs have there own set of issues that differ from MH or tubes. With the correct operator I think they can produce a nice tank. I hope to be one of those, but will need to wait to see if I am since my tank is just getting off the ground. I have done tube and MH before and LED really is different. From what I have seen in the 4 months I have used them you can not run them like either MH or tubes.

Actually, I don't believe I have seen it.
Not sure that I've seen anything outside of a nano that is a TOTM quality SPS tank with large healthy colonies that were grown out under LED only and look as good as a mh/t5 tank.
I wish I did, and I'm sure someday I will. But if they are out there, they are a rare beast for sure.

There are some others in the "Success with LED" thread that look promising. Maybe not TOTM quality, but really nice.

I had been out of the hobby a few years before I started my current tank. LEDs were just starting to be used when I got out and were not doing much. I had planned on this tank being T-5 tank. When I looked at the new batch of LED fixtures they seem extremely promising, so I decided to give it a go. I am only at 4 months since the first frag was added, so far so good. Would probably be doing better, but I had a red bug outbreak.
