Quick question,
any thoughts on lighting a 24x18x9 frag tank by a 175w MH?
Think it will be overkill or too little?

I am always open to suggestions however..
I was considering the mh moon posted as well as this one (175w) http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/hamilt...with-leds.html as well as this 150w http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/hamilt...with-leds.html
any one have any experiences with either of these? I just can't afford to spend this kind of money and it not be able to grow what I want it too. I know lighting isn't everything but it does play a big part and I don't want that to be my demise.
That reflector is 13 1/2 X 13 1/2 so it is bigger that your tank.

Also check out Aqua Medic official site they have some really good deals on refurbished stuff.

there is a guy on the used forum that is selling a nice little AM MH for cheap if I find the link I will post it.

Yes it would work you will need the right reflector, 250's are the most popular because people love the radium bulbs SE ,easy to sell in the future.
