Another ID question, and they aren't deer antlers



Those black things that look like antlers. Some sort of sponge?

They are black and not blue.

Sponge would be my first guess also but it could be a Codium species of algae.

So, I take it they are not stony?

No, definitely not stony. They are very flexible and wave around in the currents.

I searched Codium and it seems to be defined as "green" algae. Definitely not gree.

Sponge. I have the same thing in my tank. Sometimes when I use a power head to get the detritus off the rocks I'll break a few off, but they always seem to come back.
