Montipora Capricornis

I ordered three Montipora from LA this week...a Confusa, a Digitata, and an ORA Purple Montipora Capricornis. The first two look entirely as expected and I popped them into the tank after dipping within thirty minutes of arrival. Polyps extended right away so I don't think there was any problem with the overnight shipping. The Capricornis though arrived entirely browned out. Anyone have any idea how long I might expect to wait for it to purple up? Otherwise it looks just fine and is a nice specimen.

I don't think you can really put a definitive answer on this. Assuming your parameters are within reason and the lighting is sufficient, it might take a week, it might take several weeks. Patience is your best friend right now. GL.

I put it high in the tank and it has high light and high flow but it was brown in the bag it came in. The water seemed pretty cold straight from the box. It arrived Thursday and now the edges have lightened up some and I can see polyp extension. I don't think it's in danger of dying but I didn't know it was going to look like this! The other two are doing great.

Montis love high light but like all corals should be started at the bottom. I took three weeks to slowly move mine up, same for digitatas

I hear you but as I mentioned the Digi and the Confusa are totally happy. The Cap is in very similar light as they are and I'm fairly certain that LA has lights which are much brighter than mine. I certainly will watch for any signs of bleaching but I think its highly unlikely. Thanks for your comments.

The rock is a brand new Aqua Mag Rock that I just put in the tank on Saturday. Most of my rock is 10 year old Figi.

LA has MH and you have LED's. Not looking to go down the path of which is better but when you have a piece of coral that is distressed, being introduced to a new system with different lighting it is best to start low in the tank and gradually rise. You will find the same info on LA's website about introducing new corals to a tank. It is easier to save a piece of coral that needs more light than a piece that has bleached from too much light. Just my .02.
