Hammer acting weird

This hammer has been in my tank for 2.5 weeks and seems to be doing great. However today he stayed closed up even with the lights on. He's a little open now with a string of something coming from the hammer. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thank youImageUploadedByTapatalk1411712328.711166.jpg

My torch does it every once in a while. Just expelling waste.

I think it's brown jelly if I see the pic right. It looks like the flesh is melting aaway on the back end of it. If the hammer looks intact it's expelling waste. But if that's flesh melting off in the back it's a goner and I would just toss it now. You can also try a peroxide dip

Peroxide and I'd also follow up with an iodine dip of some type, too. Never can be too sure. If it looks like that head will be lost, you can also try fragging off the healthier head and tossing the sick one if it doesn't come around.

Mine went from huge and healthy to this.

Three weeks later, it's totally fine. Patience and prayer....

I know that with my frogspawn it also seems to retract some when it is having new growth. I don't know if this is a coincident or usually happen I just noticed this on my tank.

Yes the frogspawn is definitely retracted too! I just started feeding them mysis shrimp so maybe that's the waste from digestion? Any biologists in the house ?

Frog's, torches and hammers do not need to be fed often. I would cut back the feeding and give them some time.

Brown Jelly acts pretty quick, I've lost decent sized SPS frags to it overnight. I don't think that is the problem.

Look at the back of the coral on the last picture. I clearly looks like it's melting away. It seems to move slow on wall hammers for some reason. My orange wall took a while to completely go that's why I let it stay I was hoping it would stop but it didn't
