they look promising

not sure on the back pressure if running off return though.

I remember the oscillators reduced flow through sump tremendously.

Curious!

I have one and I'll test it out on a maxi-jet. The maxis are in storage in one of three places so it could take awhile before I dig one up. I'll let you all know how it goes.

I just installed one of these an hour ago for my JBJ Nanocube 12g to randomize flow. 59 minutes ago I took it off. I got better circulation without it than with it. It could be the maxi jet 1200 isn't powerful enough with the back pressure for good circulation with the spin stream. However I'm not going to install a larger pump just to run the spin stream. IMO not worth the money.

Thanks for the feedback skatezen. I think an mj1200 is around 300gph. So what do you think 600gph minimum?

Just reading the product description should tell all that is needed to know.

"Instantly create turbulent currents that mimic natural ocean tides with the “Must Have” accessory for the NuvoAquarium. Watch as your coral naturally sway back and forth as nature intended."

"Intended for use with flow rates between (52-600) gallons per hour"

In order to do what it claims, it would take a lot more than 600gph unless it was in a pico vase. It is just another product designed to take money from un-informed aquarists.

600 would definitely be better though the ID on the spin stream is only about 1/2". Seems like an awful lot of water to put through that sized hole.

Looks like a redesigned jacuzzi nozzle. I bet it loses alot of pressure to make it swirl. Save the money and buy a tunze or a vortech.

Mine worked fine the first 8 months and then stopped due to coralline buildup. I soaked it in vinegar for a day and ran water through it and it works but it now has an annoying clicking sound. I never took the thing apart since I cant find out how to open it without breaking it. For the first 8 months it was awesome and silent but not anymore.

Yeah I have just installed 2 of these to my nano 24gallon c/w 475gph pump (y piece to two return nozzles) but the flow/circulation dropped quite a lot. I like the idea of the spinning thing so considering upgrading the pump and feels like the pump capacity need to double up to make my corals sway back n forth as advertised...

Reminds of the SCWD devices. They were ok but significantly dropped the pump pressure, and the smaller ones couldn't be cleaned/serviced. Lots of things that catch the newcomer unaware.
