2 part question help about plumbing

Very basic question but I don't know the answer

What is the best order to plumb the gate valve, and unions starting from the bottom of the tan to the sump? I am using the Bean system

Where is the best place to take and add water for a water change?

Thanks

Without a diagram of what the plumbing will look like it is difficult to tell you where to place the parts.

The only questionable run for me is between the bulkhead coming out if the full siphon drain to the sump area. Should it be from the

bulkhead-union-gate- pvc pipe to sump or bulkhead-union-gate-union-pvc pipe to sump

Also For the pump return line.

Pump-union-gate-union-pvc pipe-union-bulkhead to return

I like for the drain: Bulkhead-Union-PVC-Gate-Barb-Flex
For the return: Pump-barb-flex-barb-gate valve-union if needed-pvc-bulkhead

mine (from top to bottom)

Drain: Bulkhead > Sanitary Tee > Union > PVC Pipe > Gate Valve > PVC

Return: Bulkhead > 90 degree PVC > Union > Gate Valve > PVC > Flex Tube > Pump

Ok. The question that begs. What is the Sanitry T for?

Bean used it himself. I wasn't sure if a normal T fitting would work. I'm not very good at DIY, so I follow instructions to the dot. I guess sanitary T makes it quieter on the flow

in hind sight, should have used a gate valve instead of bean's true union valve.. now I gotta rebuild it.. I can never dial it to remain silent forever.. always off by a little

here's my set up. real easy to make adjustment. I just have to turn the pump off, take off the center pipe's union, cut the current valve and put on a gate valve.

ONLY dial the full siphon. so save yourself some money and skip on the other 2 gate valves. those will remain 100% open all times

OK. I see what's going on. We have different Beans. You have the back mounted version and I am putting in the corner flow version. So yours is not destined to fail. JK
Thanks for all of your help.
