Algae thrives on phosphates. So, cut your phosphates out and your algae will go away. Also, minimize your lighting right now as green hair algae loves excessive light. Are you using tap water to top off? Most tap water is full of phosphates and other minerals that can cause problems in your aquarium. As another member stated above, RODI water is the best way to go.
