Does the Coralife Biocube UV work as a clarifier?
I have a stock 29G Biocube FOWLR. Wondering if anyone has experience (good or bad) with the Coralife Biocube 5W UV sterilizer that seems like a relatively inexpensive and easy to install option. Will it help clarify the water and reduce algae growth? Or is it akin to the available Biocube protein skimmer, from which I have read is pretty ineffective.

I have read a significant number of positive reviews on the Coralife Turbo Twist 9w UV sterilizer. I'm actually picking one up this weekend, secondhand. So I will let you know.
Also for a 29g I would think it wiser to go a bit greater than 5w. Probably 8w should be sufficient. I'm running a 29g cube, with sump, coming to approx. 35g. |

Look forward to hearing how it works for you. Do you know if the Turbo Twist unit can be mounted on the pump return line in chamber 3?

According to this post, the Biocube UV has been discontinued:
http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/sh...php?p=23193073 It still appears to be available for order from some sites, but I assume there would be an issue long term getting replacement bulbs if the unit is not being made any more? |

The Oceanic Biocube UV was discontinued. It was rebranded Coralife. Same sterilizer. Different box.
