Start over or modify skimmer

Bought a Sedra 5000 pump for my aquaeurousa Classic 135 skimmer. When I insert the elbow into the skimmer body from pump the skimmer body won't sit flat and flush on sump floor(counter for now).

Should I simply place some egg crate of small pieces of Pvc and make a stand for skimmer body and call it a day? Seems simple enough.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

I'm assuming that the length of the fitting on the outlet of the new pump is slightly different than that of the old pump, causing the issue? I'd just use a piece of egg crate to shim it with as you mentioned. A Sedra 5000 on a 6" body skimmer with a normal neck size is a very good combination, such as the old Euro Reef CS6-2's from way back when.

Yeah or I was thinking cut a short piece of 6" Pvc and fasten it to the bottom of the skimmer body. My father in law is a plumber and has plenty

I had to add a layer of egg crate under my ASM G2 skimmer when I changed out the Sedra to a 5000. works fine.

Here is a pic of how it looks now, simply propped up by a book at the moment.
