Tired of the mess....
With the new 120g tank I am setting up I have decided to go with a full glass top. I am tired of the salt mess. I will still leave the sump opened. Has anyone ever really had a verifiable issue with leaving the tank top covered? This will be fish only so not concerned with light passage either.

You're just going to end up with condensation on the underside of it and a continued fight with salt creep, not to mention the effect it will have on light penetration.

My tank has a glass top BUT---it has removeable pieces, one over the area where the lights fit---and the fans. Fans are important. The missing bit lets the glass-bottomed light kit fit there without light-loss, and the fans keep the tank cool. There are also two little round cutouts in the corners for cords, lines, etc.
Heat will be your enemy, but fans are your friends, and they do sell potent tank fan kits, an array of them.
