what should i put in canister filters????

I am moving my current 125 gallon reef into a 220 gallon tank...I have always run a sump but my 220 isn't drilled so I have to adjust my ways of thinking on filtration...I am going to put an manual overflow but I want a lot more filtration then that can give me..So I will have a 75 gal sump and 3 fluval x5's.
My question...What should I put in the 3 fluval's. I have a protein skimmer and a 40 watt uv light so I am set there. I have heard of people using the canisters as a reactor but what is it im am supposed to put in them? I have not used canisters on a salt before.
P.S..im doing this now so quick answer's if possible would be awesome. Its todays project

Not moving the livestock of course just setting it up to cycle..

Why not just drill the new tank and avoid the issue altogether? Drilling is easy, you can then plumb it the right way, and not have to worry about it?

Absolutely 100% agree. You can drill it for whatever overflow system you want (Bean, Herbie, etc.) and you can drill it for schedule 80 bulkheads (something I will ABSOLUTELY do next time)...

Them flimsy, brittle ABS pieces of caca are my nemesis...

Part of my problem with them may be that my motto is...'don't force things, just get a bigger hammer'...
