Just started an aquarium build
On the wrong foot. I think I can rectify things at some point.
My family is leaving tonight to a away for holiday. My RODI is not operational so I opted to use my well water which is pretty low in Phos. Two 30 gal barrels with dry rock with about 6 frozen shrimp (what Bilo called Jumbo but are actually small) and Salt .5 cups per gal.. Got covers on the cans with power heads doing their thing. Any suggestions? I can really use your help folks. |

My suggestion would be, unless you know what is in your well water, then dump it and hold off till you ro/di is up and running..that would be my first suggestion...
also since your are considering using the Well water, I would also suggest doing more research..you can search here for a couple of things how to set up a new tank. ich and how to get rid of it. using well water

There is no way I would ever use well water. It isnt just the phosphates, but other chemicals, metals and so on that make it a no no. You measure TDS not phosphates. Water for a tank should read 0 TDS. Otherwise, you make have months til you recover from using it

Jmorris, I was curious back in a previous thread how you got 850 pounds of water in your 75 gallon tank. Water weighing 8.3 pounds x 75 gives you 623 pounds. Is your tank over 200+ pounds?
