Wet Dry Sump or Live Rock

Hey guys I have a 300 gallon aquarium with an artificial coral insert. So I am wondering is it better to have a sump with live rock or use a wet dry sump?

I have heard that wet dry sump will keep your tank cleaner?

What are thoughts?

Wet dry will do the exact opposite. They are nitrate factory's. If it were me I would fill the display with rock and take out the coral insert. But if you want to keep it You will need at least 300 pounds of rock in a cryptic zone in your sump. Your going to need a large sump to do this.

A cryptic zone is an area for live rock that lets no light enter.

If the live rock price is scaring you away look at the price of dry rock.

Being that there's no corals in the tank, the wet/dry filter would be fine IMO. For reef tanks these filters are frowned upon, but there's absolutely no doubt in my mind that one couldn't create a happy healthy reef tank using this type of filtration. It may not be the most efficient way to go about it, but it can work. GL.

So what would be most efficent?

It's a fish only. And most the companies that I talk to say wet dry will be easier to manage and keep your tank even cleaner?

What is the disadvantage?
