Importing smaller system into larger new system
Shortly i will have to put all ill have in my 10 gallon nano into either a 25 or 45 cube. The new total water volume will probably be around 60 gallons. How do i go about securing the sps in the nano safely in the larger system? Im almost positive of some sort of cycle because there will only be about 10 gallons of established water going in. If anyone is familiar with tank transfers please share what ya know.

Its not about the water its about the LR and larger space it will be filtering. Sure you want your parameters to be matching to the best of your ability but Id suggest maybe staring the new tank and letting it cycle on its own with some added rock and when its all set add your 10g contents. thats the safest route IMO.

i've moved a lot in the last 6 years and you can just dump the contents of one tank into the new one, add some more water as needed, and it will be fine. I've never lost a fish or coral (including lots of sps and lps) this way.

I have also upgraded a few times. I put the old tank LR in with some new dry rock. Move over the rest of the critters and call it a day.
I don't under stand about the SPS, are they not attached now? If that is the case use some epoxy putty and super glue gel. If they are already attached to a rock then just place the rock in place. Good luck

By secure i really meant for them to be in good condition in the new tank. One thing i think i will struggle with is having 40 gallons of freshly mixed salt with an alk that measures 11.5 while the tank is at 9. The alk would surely rise closer to 11 in the tank probably causing rtn i would think

Hmm i would be peculiar about adding acid to my water, but it might be the only way since im adding such a large volume of water.
