I have a 40 gallon breeder quarantine, it's 18 inches wide so I think he would be ok in there for a few weeks. My Lfs has a 9 inch blueface angel in. Do you think it would be better to get this blue face or try to get one smaller than the emperor. I would quarantine the big blue face in another 40 gallon.

It's hard to say. Does that 9" blue face eat aggressively? It may be wise to get a screen divider just in case if the personalities don't match. |

My personal experience with Halocanthus and Pomacanthus Angels is 3 is better than 2. Anytime I've had 2, one has been a bully to the other, certainly not to the point of death, but noticeably aggressive. When I've had 3 or more, issues have have been minimal to nonexistent. Currently I have (sizes estimated, but close) 8 inch French and Maculosus, 6 inch Koran, 5 inch Emperor (nearly adult coloration) and 4 inch Queen. The order of dominance is obvious, but aggression is very minimal. I will add this is too much for a 240, but I will have all these in a 465 gallon by late March.

They only prefer a certain type of LPS. Things like acan, plate, scoly are easy targets for them. More aggressive ones with stinging tentacles such as bubbles, hammers, and frogspawn are ones they avoid IME. They don't have interests in softies. |

In my tank, I cultivate softies, and the angels leave them alone. Again, I am keeping what most people call "noxious" or pest corals, and even if the angels did bother them I wouldn't worry. The softies serve a dual purpose - visually appealing and help with nitrate and phosphate reduction.

I have a 350 DT with a coral beauty and a large adult Emporor angel I would love to pop a regal angel in there or a queen angel.
What would be the best options for introducing another adult angel ? The Emporor has been in there a couple of years and really is the king. He is quite aggressive and barks/grunts a great deal of the time, would it be enough to move the entire aqua scape around and then introduce the new angel or will they never get along ? I don't want to cause a fish any harm or distress, that's not why I keep these beautiful creatures, I am also very interested in the whole coral options with Angels, so again any tips would be really well received. |

How is he to the coral beauty? IMO, as long as you get the queen or regal in medium or small size, the emp will treat them the same as how he has treated the CB. You will need to QT the new angel first then introduce it to the DT at night. There will be some aggression from the emp at first. Rearranging the rocks will help. If you get the new angel as small juvenile, you can put it in an acclimation box during the first week of introduction to the DT and watch how the emp responds. In fact, you should be able to get both queen and regal into your DT, but need to get the regal established first before the queen. As far as coral option goes, I posted my take on LPS and softies just a few postings above. You might want to check it out. It will probably chew on SPS as well, so there aren't that many options with these coral eating creatures IMO. |

+1 on what the previous poster wrote about quarantine and introduction protocol for a new addition. In fact, aggression may be reduced further by introducing two types of angels simultaneously.

Love your tank, I also plan on setting up a large angel dominated tank with a few softies in the near future.

500+ gallons..., you don't need to worry..., feel free to add Angels. Add the small and more sensitive ones first, that's the general rule. You might want to follow that but it really doesn't matter with your tank size. Make sure to QT your incoming fish tho. |

Hello I'm new in the biz and just set up my 3rd tank. I have a 90 gallon predator tank with a fumanchu lion fish and looking for a fish called the Orange banded stingfish does any one know where I can buy one. It's number 2 on my list Of awesome fish. It's hard for me to locate fish of this caliber living in the mid west. Any and all help would be great. Thanks
