Tap water in QT/HT

Since QT's are setup for Fish Only, Would it make any difference if I used TAP water instead of RO/DI since I will be dosing copper and other heavy metals anyway?

also since freshwater dips are used to kill off or remove parasites would running a lower salinity aid in ridding parasites?

I have heard of hypo-salinity, but it seems less salt would kill faster?

Tap water might be fine for your QT, depending on what's in the tap water. Personally, I would avoid that risk, but I suspect the odds are in your favor. A water treatment like Prime might help with toxic metals.

Running hyposalinity will help with marine ich and likely other parasites, but it is stressful on the fish. I'd keep the salinity at the canonical average ocean level of 1.0264 unless I could see signs of a disease that I wanted to treat.

Ok awesome, yea i don't want to stress the little guys more if they already are going through parasite infections, so i'll keep salinity at the NSW level of 1.026. Thanks for the help!
