Diy led

So I found a place in Ny that sells LED Strips. they have regular and a HO version of the LEDs.

The HO version is 18$/foot.

They said they are a 5,000K LED light.

They also have Blue LED, i asked if they were royal Blue 453nM equivalent, and they weren't sure.

I was thinking of buying 2 lengths of 3 feet of the 5k White and 1 length of 3 feet lof the blue and attach to my canopy top with the blue in the middle and white in back and front..

Is 5k a good kelvin for corals? and if it isnt "royal blue" will it still be considered actinic blue?

Suggestions?

you'd be better off getting Chinese leds off ebay designed for reef tanks.

The ratio is closer to 2/1.... blues / whites

Amazon has some great LED deals too. I just got a pretty sweet 300W "full spectrum" for $170. I couldn't build it that cheap. It needs wider optics but I have a bunch that I can swap in no problem.
