Once you have it cleaned give it a fill with plain tap water for a fee days and leak test it. If you already removed the silicone you have to make 100% sure that there is not any residue on the glass at all. Also be sure to use an aquarium safe silicone.

I took my 55 gallon apart and resealed it and now use it for my sump. You have to remove all the silicone and take the glass apart and clean all the seams. And then put it back together. You also need aquarium silicone I think. It has been years since I did it.

i was honestly concerned it would leak if i didnt reseal. scraped most of the old silicone off, gonna get some cerium oxide and get out these really tiny scratches the other owners left in...theyve been bothering me lol. then to reseal and test for leaks. hopefully by next weekend work on the aquarium will be finished and we can finish painting the stand. ill keep you guys updated
