Hypodermic needle?
Where do you get one? I don't know any junkies around the area, so other than that can I go to a drug store and buy them? I have a single apatasia and was going to try to inject with lemon juice

Have had same dilemma...gotta find someone who is diabetic who can spot you one. Gettin tougher too cuz technology has made insulin dosing so much simpler... Walmart works but large packs only.

You can get industrial, non-sharp, needles on Amazon. They are the same as hypodermic, except they are not sharp enough to puncture skin ( yes they are but it would really hurt ) and are used to lubricate fine machinery. I got mine there.

Explain that one? I think I see how that works just want to make sure. I have a half dozen apstasia that have reared their ugly heads.

You can go to any pharmacy and get one. You can also order them online from many many websites. This is the website I use. http://www.gpzservices.com/

Take a skewer, wet it, and roll some dry powder on the tip. Insert it into the body cavity or into the hole and rotate. There will be some mucus but this helps the kalk stick to the skewer better. Repeat and kill maybe 5 to 10 at a time. If any kalk falls onto a coral just wave it off with your hand. Plug everything back in. I have used it twice now and never had any survive two rounds. Of all the pests this one is easy to beat. |

Go to your local tractor supply and they will have needles for livestock you can purchase. I am a type 1 diabetic and I will tell you that the needles that we use will not work well for injecting aiptasia with kalk. (I assume this is what you want one for, after one or two times of drawing up the kalk water the needle will just stop working. 28gauge needs don't work very well) also you will have to inject the anems a few times to kill them off.

i know in PA i can just go to any pharmacy and buy the insulin syringes by asking the pharmacist. certain states have laws requiring a prescription to obtain them them, not sure if NY is one of them or not.
for what it's worth, i will say that they didn't work as well as i would have liked for injecting kalk in to bubble algae. i had to make my slurry too thing to be able to get it through the needle, the insulin ones are absolutely tiny. although for lemon juicing an aiptasia, they might be able to do the trick. just be very careful when putting the cap back on. those needles will go straight the cap and in to your finger like a hot knife through butter. go ahead, ask me how i know.

No, it is not. Kalk is calcium hydroxide. It is also sold as pickling lime in the grocery store.
KH buffer is a mix of sodium carbonate and/or sodium bicarbonate.

I got a syringe and needle at the grocery store that has worked great. Even though I have access to all sorts of needles and syringes, I found that kalk usually just plugged up the needle making them useless. The one I got from the grocery is for injecting marinade into a turkey or some such nonsense. But the needle on it was huge so it never gets clogged. The syringe was huge too, but fortunately it was luer lock so I just stuck the needle on a smaller syringe.

One pharmacy here will not sell with out a prescription and the other will only sell by the box. I ended up going to the hardware store where they also sell vaccine supplys for animals and purchased a single needle there.

If you explain to the pharmacist what you need it for (with the prerequisite of not looking like a junkie) you should be just fine. If state law does not say you need to have a prescription for them, the pharmacist can not deny you them. But like I said, I just order online, much easier, not to mention cheaper.

I just walked into CVS, told the pharmacist the truth, and she gave me one.
Funny what some simple honesty will get you.
