Scarlet shrimp eating at Trach brain. Help needed

Saw cleaner last night eating at mouth of Trach
Figured he was just eating waste from coral
Today when I got home I see the one mouth is gapping open missing tissue
Other mouth closed and partially inflated
Significantly less then normal

Question is is this normal and will it recover
Was an expensive brain!
I feed fish heavy twice a day so there should be plenty of food

Do you dose your aquarium? Or check your alk cal and mag? Its possible the brain was already decaying / dieing and the shrimp noticed and began the scavenging. That's a possibility anyways.

I also don't think your shrimp is the killer, cleaner shrimp only go after something when they are on their way out- corals or clams.

You can try covering the brain w/ an egg-crate cage or something else to see if it recovers.
How long have you had the brain? Is it geoffroyi or radiata sp?

Geoff
About a month
Saw shrimp inside Acans tonight
It's mouth flesh is gone so it's a gaping hole now on one side
Was a little inflated today but loaded with sand I had to tip over to get out
Not sure mouth will regrow without getting bacteria first?
Norm trachs will recede in flesh putter rim when dying I thought

I've had less success w/ Geoff than radiatas, Geoffs seem to thrive or die w/in the first week, so can you transfer the shrimp to the sump?

I have witnessed peppermint shrimp eating perfectly healthy corals. Plate coral and frogspawn. They can go rouge and have been banished to my sons tank. Don't want to risk it.
