Not trying to be that guy but if you have the time to browse rc during work hours...

Anyone remember the days when we called it "plug and pray"?

I don't recall that phrase actually...but I believe you IIRC, you have to be near your tank and do something for service to work. I can browse RC all day at work, but that doesn't mean my tank problems are getting fixed. I could take off for the day, does that sound like a reasonable solution??

Also not trying to be "that guy" but I think if you are going to call customer service for technical support, they might just want you to have the product with you to troubleshoot it... Not everyone can run home for lunch and have enough time to do this, but may have down time to browse RC, which is where the support on this forum from the vendors comes in handy! JMHO

I have the same issue with Neptune's hours. They also mirror my work hours. That said, Neptune has made an exception for me and set up a Saturday call.

For products which require you to be next to the device to troubleshoot, regular business hours don't work. Unless of course you don't have a job, but then you couldn't afford their products...

Contact the manufacturer and see what you can work out. AI set someone up to work with me after hours when I had issues with my director. These people understand we have day jobs and can not run home to do these things. Be nice and they will take care of you.

I guess I am lucky if I have an issue I take it back to my LFS where I bought it from and he takes care of it, whether it is Ecotech or Ecoxotic.

With the prices they charge, you'd think they could afford 24/7 tech support.

My gripe is after a year of using Radion LED lights, they did a poor job of growing my SPS corals.
Likely you water quality is a issue, many tanks i have seen can grow sps with radions.

+1.
My tank grew sps better with leds than halides personally.
If you are having difficulty with any of your ecotech products. 9 outta 10 times it can be solved via ETM. Where else can you get a awesome pump that has no cords in the water? Just like any product, there's issues that can be solved without bashing.

An honest opinion and thought. I have several of their pumps, and my firends have pumps lights reeflink etc, but I will speak about myself and own stuff. I have 2 mp40s that were the blue drivers, and they are easily 6-7 years old. WHen they upgraded drivers, my $450 investment wasnt obsolete or dismissed, like a phone or laptop would be, it was embraced, sure they didnt mail me upgrade for free, but my pump was working perfect and I could have kept it the same, but I choose to upgrade the drivers and they are still working. When I upgraded the drivers I had a problem, mostly end user but still a problem, I emailed them and next day got a phone call, and the guy was very friendly and nice and walked me threw the fix. But those pumps, with normal maintenance on wet side every other month or so, are still running. Another fun thing, parts are easy peasy, I was able to get grill guard replaced for under $20 What lower end pump has replacement parts down to the flippin screws? lol say what u will about some hassles or struggles or how their products were/are costly, but I think their attitude to end users is refreshing

Well said philly_reefer, I think I am that friend u mentioned and I have plenty of vortechs, also have a reeflink and apex. I chose reeflink over apex and sold my vortech controller module. At first I will say the reeflink was pita due to its heavy bias for applecrap. After I found a browser that really embraced it and updated vortech control for reeflink I really started having less problems, I however accepted a beta product and knew it was when I pulled the trigger. Their tech support to me was 5 star and I think if u r having issues with it still try diff browser? Lastly best thing about ecotech and other quality products their resale value is high and easy to sell. So worse case scenario you tried it didn't like it and sell it for a slight loss.

This is not exactly true. RC user organism had a broken impeller and needed to buy a whole new wet side. Complaints got his threads deleted. Not all parts are available, and it certainly didn't sound easy peasy

Replacements

So your saying in the last month you've had to send two of their units back and have them replaced? Which units needed to be replaced? And why did they need replacing?
Sorry, just saw this. I had a vortech 40 pump where the dry side bearings were obviously going out or wrong to start with . Very loud compared to my other one. I also have a Radion gen 3 that wouldn't stay calibrated. Was a completely different brightness than my other two. Tried recalibrating several times, but it would never fix the problem.

Both replacements work perfectly.
