Protein skimmer

Need to find out if a ASM G2 skimmer would be an over kill on a 75gl tank?

If it will fit in your sump the its perfect. Maybe you can overstock a little, or use it for a future upgrade. My opinion is buy the biggest skimmer that fits in your space, and you can clean/maintain it.

I had a G3 on my 75 years ago. There are better skimmers for the $ out there in my opinion, but if you already have it, might as well use it.

My take away from reading these forums is there is no such thing as overkill when it comes to skimmers.

There is overkill. If you get too big of a skimmer you will be cleaning the skimmer cup neck and nothing else. For a 75 gallon tank look for a skimmer rated for 125 gallons
