Bubble blaster pump skips

I'm curious if it is normal for the bubble blaster pump to skip. It's sounds like it pulls in too much air for a second. Sometimes it runs perfectly other times it skips a few times a minute. I took it apart and everything looks and feels fine. I've tried running it without the skimmer attached, same problems. The pump is brand new and did it out of the box.

Mine has run smooth right out of the box. How long has it been running?

try running it with no air, submerge the air inlet and see if it still skips.

Try removing the volute and inspect for any salt residue. When I had an SRO skimmer this was weekly PM. If the water level in the skimmer rises suddenly it is a sign this has happened

I took it apart and put everything back together and it seemed to fix it.
