Fluval Edge 6 Gallon. My First Nano Reef

Hi guys,

I'm new here. My name is Henrique Melo and this is my first Nano Reef using a Fluval Edge 6 Gallon.

This is my first week (5 days to be exactly) and at the moment i'm doing the cycle.

Equipment
Fluval Edge Tank (6 Gallon)
Azoo Mignon Skin (Filter + Mini Skimmer)
3 Live Rocks
Sand (I forgot the brand, but isn't a live sand)
Lighting (the standard one, but I'll upgrade to a better LED system)
Red Sea Coral Pro Salt

Week 1 (Day #5) | Water Parameters
Temperature: 78ºF
pH: 7,0
Ammonia: 10ppm
Nitrite: 0,8ppm
Nitrate: 10ppm
Alkalinity: 11dKH

Since I'm a beginner with saltwater aquarium, any suggestions are very welcome.

Thanks,
Henrique Melo.

Take it slow and don't try to put more then one fish in there something like a goby unless you have a way to properly oxygenated water and remember to only keep tiny fish

thanks Steven! My main goal at the moment is to normalize all the water parameters first, specially the pH level (up to 7.8).
Do you know what can I do to make my pH level better? Or the live rocks and cycling will do (kind of) this job for me?

I'm at work right now when I get off I could answer some of the questions. It is normal for new tanks to have a low pH

But it may need to be adjusted if it doesn't come up

I've never heard of a Fluval Edge reef. Lots of Fluval Specs. The filter is sort of, well, I dunno. I'm watching this one.

Hi guys!

Thanks for all the answers and comments. After a good night of sleep, I decided to "upgrade" my tank and use a Fluval EBI that I've had for a while (this tank was used for an old freshwater setup). I also added a new heater and a Fluval Circulation Pump.

My next upgrade will be a decent protein skimmer, maybe an extra circulation pump and of course a better lighting system, because I'm using the standard 11W Fluval EBI white light.

Looks good! Glad to see more edges on the forums! How'd you like aquascaping through that tiny opening haha!

Edit: never mind just read above post! Oh well, save yourself some contortions.

Why did you change from the Edge? I was looking forward to seeing how that turned out considering the Edge's weird filter compartment. Oh well.

I changed just because the tiny opening at the top of the tank. I was considering the take the top class off, but I already had that Fluval EBI collecting dust so.. why not? lol

Also I can add a better skimmer, a circulation water/wave pump and so on...
