For saltwater. The 55g is the worse tank. Too high and too narrow.

What's a "breeder" in litres?
Just curious as it isn't common terminology on this side of the pond. |

You can easily convert any volumetric measurement on Google's search page. Simply key in X gallons to liters. Also works with Fahrenheit to Celsius and many other measurements.

40 over the 55 all day hands down. I went from a 29 with a few small corals and 2 clowns to a 40B with 9 fish (all smaller) and countless corals/mushrooms. I thought it would take me years to out grow it. Well a year and a half later im building a 240. If you can, just upgrade to a 75/90. You will thank yourself in the end with the amount of space you have to grow into

I had a 38 gallon that was similar to a 55. Way to skinny to do anything. We recently moved and I thought It was the perfect opportunity to upgrade. I was thinking like you; "oh ill get this and then in a few years upgrade to a bigger one". Instead I went big and got a 120g. Best decision cause I would've NEVER upgraded. So whatever you plan on upgrading to in a few years...Get THAT

This footprint allows you to have alot more front to back working space. Specially for more corals what most of us want. Heres my 40b |

Ahhh I understand now, a 40 breeder is a style of tank.
My new tank is similar but bigger - its 36x24x24. 4" lost for rear chambers so 36x20x24 really. Isaacs, see if you can find an AquaMedic Percula for a good price, they're lovely tanks - mine hasn't even got rock yet and looks good |

Yea I keep going back to a 40 breeder for the footprint and cheapness of the petco $1 a gallon sale. But then I think of a 65 will allow much more fish options but can still stay the same with equipment more or less. But I plan on all hob stuff like the aquafuge and either the reef octopus bh90 or bh 2000 and probably the reefbreeder photon light. Just 65 are kinda hard to come by cheap.

+1 Period, end of story.
40B, FTW. It gives you more width for your rock scape.

I personally have a 40 breeder that I'm just setting up and it is perfect dimensions wise. I can recommend some Leds though. The Arctic T247 by Oceanrevive. Great light for a great low price..
