Help...I am a newbie having a Big problem
I have a 44gal tank, a metal halti light and a marineland c530 filter. water tests nitrate 40 nitrite 4.0 alka is 250 ph is 7.2 salinity 1.023....Here is my problem....I noticed Tank had ich so i didn't want to tear down all my rock so we have been catching fish (5 Total; 2 clowns,1 blue tang, 1 blue dam & 1 3strip dam) to put in my hosptal 10 gal tank...i got 3 out tang and 2 clowns...then I got an electrical zap. I unplugged everything think maybe i got water onto something let everthing dry...about 30 minutes later plugged everything back in. Everything seemed fine until i noticed my dams were dead and a crab. Then this morning my anemone was on my feather dusters in his pouch and worms which are now almost 3/4 out of casings and 1 all out..my toadstool broke from base...2 more dead crabs my peppermint shrimp dead...and brisleworms coming out of rocks like crazy....what is happening?

sounds like you have some serious stray voltage going on with one or multiple pieces of equipment. where is you heater located and check to see if it is broken. if heaters are on and any part of the glass is out of water (depending on what kind of heater it is) they can break very easily.

Unplug the heater and see if the zap stops. There are also 'stray voltage' detectors. But if you were zapped, that's definite it's going on. A broken seal on a heater is notorious.
TO unravel your mess, first stop the zap. Then just let the tank be, but pull anything obviously dead. Probably your tank bacteria survived and can handle the die-off, maybe with a small cycle, while you treat your fish for ich. Takes 4 weeks for a typical cycle, 4-6 weeks on the ich treatment with follow-up period of observation. If the problem does lie with the heater, an Eheim Jager heater is pretty tough as a replacement.
