Question Best snail choice!

I am noticing Hair Algae, and my LFS has Astra Snails and Mexican Turbo snails. Which would be the best option for cleaning the algae between these two choices? I have a 20 gallon high.

Turbos get bigger and will eat more algae but the are known to have difficulty righting themselves when they fall. With a 20 gallon tank I would go with two or three astrea snails.

My favorite are trochus snails. They don't get to large and can right themselves usually if they fall over. Astreas cannot in my experience.

I've had 3 big turbos in my 29G nanoCube - never had problems with them tipping over, but they're bulldozers and will knock corals around.

A couple each of astreas and trochus if they have them. Bumblebees are really small - they'll get into places the bigger guys can't fit.

I had a half dozen bumblebees in my nanoCube - I would see them all spread out throughout the day, but for whatever reason, I'd see them all together around the time the lights come on - it's like they were having a morning meeting.

My snail don't do much for algae, blue leg crabs do ok though.

How much algae? If you have a lot and it gets long I'm not sure a snail will get it.

Got a couple Astreas for now, and these guys are going nuts on that algae. It isn't long hair at all, but it is quite a bit. I will get a couple of the Trochus soon, or maybe a star Astrea and a Trochus.

My emerald crabs devour it. They grab it by the claw full and shovel it in.

+1 for astreas IMO or trochus as above, turbos are coral dozers
