Hanna Checker Phosphorus 736 ULR Reading

Hey guys,

My tank has just cycled, I just got my Hanna Checker Phosphorus 736 ULR meter so i figured i would try it out. I followed the instructions exactly and these are my readings (i took 4 readings just to check consistency, they are listed in order). I've also converted them into Phosphate.

Reading 1: 1ppm x 3.066 = 3.066/1000 = .003 ppm
Reading 2: 2ppm x 3.066 = 6.132/1000 = .006 ppm
Reading 3: 0ppm x 3.066 = 0/1000 = 0 ppm
Reading 4: 0ppm x 3.066 = 0/1000 = 0 ppm

Am i converting these readings right? Is it a good thing it is that low? What do i want the Phosphate readings to be? Let me know what you guys think, the tank has no livestock yet only live rock and sand.

You are doing the conversion correctly. Without any livestock in a freshly cycled tank, I'm not surprised by the readings you are getting.

Once you have some fish in there and you are feeding, they are pooping etc.. Phos will rise at some point. From then on you can start managing the nutrients you have in the tank.
