Yes, we all have those days...
I've been decades at this hobby. Does that mean I never forget to set the kitchen timer when I'm running ro/di water---yesterday? Thank goodness for a slow filter---and my basement floor drain.
Does it mean that I never plug my ATO pump into the power strip instead of the ATO unit? Fortunately I never leave off until I've seen that pump cut off in response to the float. Does that mean that when I note my skimmer runneth over and I clean it---that it starts right up without spitting up? Would you believe that the exit sponge-trap had calcified? A few healthy squeezes to clear the deposit and it's running fine. Just sayin'---even after decades and processes that are now automatic, yep, 'stupid' still gets its moments. The best thing is that doublecheck before you leave ANY system. The doublecheck on the ATO feed. Staying to watch the skimmer in action. What happens if you don't doublecheck those things is far more dramatic than an overflowing ro/di barrel.

I agree. The longer that you're in the hobby, the easier it is to forget things and/or take shortcuts, because you're "seasoned", and everything will be ok.
Good reminder, Sk8r.
