RO / DI unit
I just started my first reef tank, been into planted tanks for about 10 years. Wife finally said lets do a reef and I get to work with what she approved as a tank... A Fluval M90. She likes the modern look.
Anyway, the question I have is, I'm looking to buy a RO / DI for what is now a 36 gallon all in one. Not looking to spend a ton. Any suggestions? Thanks! |

There are many sponsors on RC that offer RODI units, my first unit I purchased was from Ebay for $100 and it was a 6 stage unit that didn't have any bells and whistles on it.
It worked great for a few years and then the fittings that connect the filter canisters together became brittle and started cracking causing tiny leaks. That prompted me to replace all the fittings with better quality ones. I still use it today. Later down the road I purchased a BRS unit with all the bells and whistles and I seem to like it better and haven't had any issues with it. One thing to look for when purchasing a RODI unit is the availability to use other companies filters as a viable replacement option, that way if that company goes out of business you're not stuck with a unit you can't get replacement parts for. which means look for one that use the common 10" canisters so if you're in a pinch you can go to home depot or lowes to get a micron filter or carbon block etc.... It would be safe to say that if you buy a unit from one of the sponsors here on RC you'll be in good hands. You'll just have to know what bells and whistles you need and which ones you can live without.
