"Cichlid Stones" For Quarantine?

I threw in a single piece of live rock into my quarantine that was covered in algae in an attempt to entice some fish to eat and ever since then every fish seems to gravitate towards hiding in that little chunk of rock as opposed to the PVC I have laid out in the tank, so I'm thinking of picking up some assorted cichlid stones to swap out the PVC with and see if fish like those better. Would there be any downsides to this?

Only if you put copper or other medicine if they absorb it. Nothing more.
